Election anxiety may not be listed in the diagnostic manual used by psychologists and psychiatrists, but it’s no secret that this election is creating higher than usual stress levels for Americans in every state. According to the American Psychological Association, this phenomenon is not limited to either party; 59 percent of Republicans and 55 percent of Democrats report feeling anxious about the election. The stress affects all age groups and races.
